STEPS FOR YOUR FINAL PROJECT (20%)

PASOS PARA EL PROYECTO FINAL

1. Watch carefully the video examples.

2. Invent or adapt a story. Write the script. (Redactarán el libreto y los diálogos de cada personaje. Se repartirán los personajes entre los integrantes del equipo.) La historia puede ser copiada o adaptada o inventada.

3. Study your dialogues and rehearse the play. (Ensayarán la obra)

4. Presentation of your play.

Important dates:

a) Write the script (libreto) on: April 25th and 27th

b) Rehearsals (ensayos en equipo) on: May 2nd & 4th

c) Rehearsal checked by the teacher on: Thursday May 5th from 11 am to 1 pm or Friday May 6th from 11 am to 3 pm classroom G2. Revisaré un ensayo de su obra en uno de estos días, aunque no les toque clase en estos días, pasen en cualquier horario que este dentro del rango que les marque para que revise sus avance. Es requisito que pasaen a revisarse en uno de estos días, de lo contrario la calificación máxima que podrán obtener en el proyecto será de 7.

d) Presentation of your play to the group on May 9th. ÚNICA FECHA PARA LA PRESENTACIÓN DE SU OBRA.

EVALUATION

The evaluation will NOT be individually. All the members of the team will obtain the same grade. Todo el equipo obtendrá la misma calificación. Apóyense entre uds para que todos trabajen igual, ya que por ejemplo si dos personas del equipo tienen muy buen desempeño y dos un mal desempeño, su calificación se promediará.

Aspects to be evaluated:

a) Claridad en el habla

b) Precisión en sus diálogos (estructuras y vocabulario adecuados)

c) Capacidad de comunicación entre los miembros del equipo ( fluidez, entonación, gesticulación, lenguaje corporal)

d) Creatividad en el diseño y presentación de su obra (escenografía, vestuario, utilería, etc.)

SECOND EXAM (30%)

Second exam (present continuous and simple past) on May 11th.

IMPORTANT:

I'll be absent from April 25th to May 4th. During this period you have to work on your project by yourselves. It's very important that you see me on May 5th or 6th.

PARTE 1

Design a brochure
Elaboración de un folleto

En equipos entregar un folleto impreso en el que hablen y comparen dos países (excepto México) de cualquier continente.

Steps Pasos

1. Organize in teams of 3 or 4 people.
2. Choose 2 countries (except Mexico) and talk about:
a) location
b) population (physical description, main activities, occupations)
c) famous places
d) famous people
e) languages spoken
3. Differences and similarities among those countries.

PARTE 2
Exposición del folleto

Con su equipo expondrán la información del folleto.
Elaborarán una presentación en power point (a algunos grupos les comenté que podían elaborar un video) sobre ambos países.

Requisitos
Duración de DIEZ MINUTOS en total por equipo.
La presentación en power point debe llevar solamente títulos, subtítulos, imágenes, audio, video y no más texto.
No se permite leer. Deben exponer sin notas.
La calificación es por equipo.

Fecha de presentación 11, 12 y 13 de mayo. DE ACUERDO CON EL DÍA EN QUE TENGAN CLASE.

English Sounds

Hello everybody! Nice to meet you here again. Let's have a great 2011 and learn more English!

The first activity for Fourth Semester is to visit the next site: Phonetics: the sounds of American English This site can help you a lot to improve your pronunciation.

For next class you must study the sounds or phonemes seen in the previous class. Enter to vowel monophtongs, then monophtongs front and study the phoneme /ə/ then go to monophtongs central and study the phoneme /æ/ Compare them and practice them. You can do it in front of a mirror.

Examen final de Inglés

El examen final de Inglés I y III se realizará el día 2 de diciembre a las 14:00 hrs. en el edifcio IM en la planta baja. Afuera del salón 3 se pegará el número de salón asignado. Es requisito llevar la hoja de evaluación que tiene la calificación de la presentación en power point. Las personas que no realizaron la presentación deberán tenerla lista y presentarla ese mismo día a las 13:30 hrs. Sin presentación no tendrán derecho al examen. Sólo se permitirá el uso de lápiz, goma y sacapuntas. El examen de Inglés I abarca de la unidad 1 a la 6, y el de Inglés III abarca de las unidades 1 a la 4. El examen constará de comprensión auditiva, comprensión de lectura, producción escrita, vocabulario y grámatica. El examen tiene un valor de 8 puntos y la presentación en power point 2 puntos. Pasados 10 minutos de la hora designada no se permitirá el ingreso al examen. El examen tiene una duración de 90 minutos como máximo.

Second project: Talking about a classmate

Lee cuidadosamente las siguientes instrucciones para tu segundo proyecto. Deberás hacer una exposición oral sobre uno de tus compañeros de la clase de inglés. Para ello elaborarás una presentación en power point que te servirá de apoyo. En la presentación debes apoyarte con imágenes y escribir lo menos posible. Durante tu exposición oral no debes leer sino usar las imágenes de apoyo para realizar tu exposición. Las exposiciones se realizarán del 22 al 24 de noviembre.

· Show a picture of him/her and mention what is happening in the picture. Use PRESENT CONTINUOUS. OR Show a picture of a typical day in his/her life and say what he/she does. Use SIMPLE PRESENT.

Rubrics for the evaluation

Correct use of tenses (verb to be, simple present, present continuous...), correct use of pronouns ( he, she, they… / him, her, them… / his, her, their…), correct use of prepositions, adjectives, verbs. 2.5 points

The presentation should have all the points mentioned (name. age, address, description, family, likes-dislikes, narration in simple present or present continuous, why chose that person, name and group) 2.5 points

Use of appropriate vocabulary, good spelling 2 points

Edition and presentation (images, sounds, music. adequate colors, adequate type and size of letter) 2 points

Organization of the information. Adequate time and number of slides. 1 point

Check the aspects to be evaluated about your video. Then copy the url of your video, the title and group as a comment.

Establishment of a good and fluent communication among the members of the team 4 points

Creativity in the writing of the dialogue, during the filming and in the edition 4 points

Edition and quality of the video (title, introduction-climax-end, credits, scenes...) 2 points
